Can you elaborate on your use case? By "mmap()-style usage" I assume you mean allocating fixed size blocks (as if they were pages of memory) and then updating offsets within individual pages. Is this correct?

Yes, that is the use-case.
We are using this pattern to great success in some apps with redis. It would be nice if HyperDex could also support it, unless those operations would be infeasible (too expensive) for some reason.
It might be a bit of a fringe use-case (thus lower priority than other items), but has proven very useful for us in scenarios where the overhead of native data-structures (in particular: lists) would have been too high.
