Can you give me a copy of the syntax error? Knowing which version of autoconf you use would be helpful as well.

I'm running fedora 16 x86_64

I have the following installed:

autoconf-2.68-2.fc15.noarch
autoconf-archive-2012.04.07-1.fc16.noarch
automake-1.11.1-5.fc14.noarch
libtool-2.4-9.fc16.x86_64

Here is the end-snippet of the configure output (for busybee which it exhibits the same behavior)

./configure --prefix=/opt/hyperdex

Can you tell me more about your platform? It seems the AX_CXX_CHECK_FLAG macro is undefined. On my system, this comes with autoconf-archive. What would be most helpful would be:

  • The version of autoconf
  • The version of autoconf-archive

from hyperdex.

neikos avatar neikos commented on July 19, 2024

autoconf - 2.68-2
autoconf-archive - 2012.04.07-1

from hyperdex.

rescrv avatar rescrv commented on July 19, 2024

So the breakage is caused by autoconf-archive. AX_CXX_CHECK_FLAG is available in the latest release, but was deprecated more recently than the Debian package.

In the short term, can you remove ANAL_WARNINGS_CXX from configure.ac for your local copy? It should be around line 20. I'll commit a fix, and then the hack won't be necessary. I just need to figure out the m4.

Looking at this thread again, I see you included version information in the followup comment. Sorry for asking for it twice.

No worries, I like typing :-)
