Yes, this is on my roadmap for 1.0, a big rewrite using ActiveModel (let it handle callbacks, validations, dirty attributes, etc.).

As a note - with a little work you can get this to work pretty darn well now. We actually use it in a project and put together a Her::ActiveModel module which we include in our classes to get the ActiveModel goodness we need. Our module isn't perfect - but, so far it's been working pretty darn good!
