I will preface this comment with: I have not recently worked with
ActiveState . But my experiences in the past (with both perl and python)
with them has found that they often come up with their own versions of
modules/libraries that are either slightly different or not applicable to
other non ActiveState python platforms.

I would also point out that part of being competent in python involves
knowledge and updating of libraries. So to have everything come
pre-installed is not necessarily a good thing.
As I said; my experience is not recent. I have long since migrated to
eclipse .

Regards
Jim

Hi,

I always recommend my students on Windows to use ActiveState ActivePython, as
it comes with distutils, pip, virtualenv and pywin32 and automatically adds
Python to the PATH.

If you approve of the idea, I can submit a pull request, which would be mainly
deleting 3/4 of the page and explaining the choice.

Thanks for the input, but we'll go with the best practice approach. Thank you.
