Request: Ability to invoke validation on selected form controls about jqbootstrapvalidation HOT 1 CLOSED

This reply is embarrassingly late, but..

To ignore validation on some fields, I've just added the 'filter' option in 1.3.4:

$(function () { 
    $("input,select,textarea").not("[type=submit]").jqBootstrapValidation({
        filter: function () {
            return $(this).is(":visible");
        }
    }); 
} );

The above would replace $(function () { $("input,select,textarea").not("[type=submit]").jqBootstrapValidation(); } ); and only consider visible fields when trying to submit a form (eg: "if you have a spouse, you must enter their gross earnings. if you don't, the field is hidden with display: none").

To get any error values in javascript, you would do:

$("input.CLASS_NAME,select#ID,etc").jqBootstrapValidation("collectErrors");

which returns an object that looks like this:

{
    username: ["error message", "another error message"],
    email: ["not a valid email address"]
}

so:

if (errors.username && errors.username.length > 0)
{
    // then the username isn't valid
}
