@kjsolo We need a callback to validate fields with long running operations such as finding if a given username is available. What you propose will make the API more compact, I like it. However, we may have to use a different API design to perform asynchronous validations. Also, now the callback clearly separates the success and failure logic. If you remove that, structuring the code will be a 'choice'.
