You could just remove the tutor from all the courses that they are enrolled in.

What I want to be able to do is leave them in the system so that they can be re-instated without effectively firing and re-hiring them. Is this possible?

So you want to keep a list of the courses that they were tutoring before they left? Is that the issue?

means that I pushed new code in commit #e0b32e9 that implements the feature
or fixes the bug.

In other cases, I'll usually write a short message explaining why it was
closed.
