I like the simplification. I accidentally have extra threads running all the time too - and end up restarting the kernel. You may want to retain the ability to have specific threads updating based on specific functions though. Might be nice for plotting more complicated time-varying data.

Somewhat along this line, I would be very happy if there could be an example on how to use Filters and animations. At the current stage I get very confused.
It goes like this: I have a regular grid with scalar data on it. Animating its colour is simple. But I would like to apply a warp_by_scalar filter too, to highlight changes. But currently I am stuck with the initial warp and only the colour changes.

Thanks for the input @cweickhmann - do you by chance have example data files? What you describe is possible with the current state of PyVista and this might be an excellent question for the Support Forum
