New suggestion for the syntax: The previously introduced syntax for a single source node remains intact. Instead additional sources can be added via the attribute dictionary:

potentially two variants are possible for the attribute dict syntax:
# variant a: variable is not yet flagged as input and thus needs to be named with full path
- ...
- {<attribute dict>, edge_op/edge_var: source_op/source_var}
# variant b: variable is already flagged as input and must thus be uniquely named within the edge
- {<attribute dict>, edge_var: source_op/source_var}
