Okay, thanks that fixes it.
Also setting it case-sensitive with case_sensitive=True
works too.

Thanks @gedemagt for reporting this issue.
By default env variables name are case-insensitiv and pydantinc-settings
convert all env variables name to lowercase and it can't consider FANCY_LIST
field as a complex field to json parse the value.
So, you can fix the problem by changing your model like:
class SubSetting(BaseModel):
fancy_list: list[int]
from pydantic-settings.
