The setup.py needs an overhaul anyway:
- since it depends on cryptography now, it doesn’t support Python <2.6
- I’m rather positive it does support Python 3.3?
- APL2 is not a thing. Apache, version 2 or – if you love acronyms – ASLv2 are.
- de-duplicating the version string isn’t very hard. I’ve cargo-culted find_version from somewhere (pip I think) and while not pretty, it perfectly does what we need here without exploding.
- And finally, 2014 called and wants its setuptools.
I’d happily fix all of the above if you’re interested.

The install_requires thing is fixed now, @hynek you should open new tickets for whatever is left
