For easy testing of this error I have upload the project that is failing (https://github.com/abrahammartin/pyroven) using pyOpenSSL 0.14 and works using pyOpenSSL 0.13. You only have to create two virtualenvs, one with 0.14 and other with 0.13 and test them running runtests.py. You will see tests not passing with 0.14, only with 0.13.

This looks like a duplicate of issue #15.

Yes, it is the same problem. I was passing a Unicode as the data parameter in the verify() function and it stopped working in 0.14. If instead you use encode() to convert the Unicode to a string, it works again. Seems that this problem can be extended to other functions as you point (#15 and #62)
