ICMP reports up=1 although host is down about blackbox_exporter HOT 5 CLOSED

Well - i think i found the problem. Typical beginner error as it also appeared in #50. As in a normal slang, a device responding to a ping is "up", i checked the "up" metrics, not realizing that this metric monitors the state of the exporter. After looking at probe_success, everything looks as expected. ;)

So should i left this issue open for @raypettersen or just close it?

I'm sorry, what? I am currently taking my first steps in setting up a full prometheus stack, so what do you mean?
I am interpreting this as "when you enter an IP instead of a hostname as the target, blackbox_exporter reports correct up-state". Is this correct?

Can you tcpdump both pings to see what's going on?

@simonszu, no you get correct icmp responses with dns names. Sorry for the confusion. What I'm talking about is referenced in #60. I reproduced this a while ago, and avoided dns targets because of this. Correct me if I am wrong @brian-brazil .
