I think views was meant to intentionally do this. For example:

  # controller
  class EmployeesController < ApplicationController
    def show
        employee = Employee.find(:id)
        view = current_user == employee.supervisor ? :supervisor : :employee
        render json: Blueprinter.render(employee, view: view)
    end
  end
# Blueprint
class EmployeeBlueprint < Blueprinter::Base
  identifier :id
  view :employee do
    fields :first_name, :last_name
  end
  view :supervisor do
    include_view :employee #inherit fields from :employee
    field: :salary
  end
end

I should've clarified in the first post, the issue is collection serialization, i. e. the case

EmployeeBlueprint.render([
  Employee.create(supervisor: first_supervisor),
  Employee.create(supervisor: second_supervisor)
])

from blueprinter.

Hmm ok, in that case I think it's a feature that blueprinter could support. @dlcarter @AllPurposeName does this make sense to you guys as well?

Yeah this is a compelling case, I think. 👍
