This is a known issue and described in the troubleshooting docs:

The arrows may have the wrong colors if you have changed the “minimum contrast” slider in the color tab of your OS X settings.

Does this resolve the issue for you?

Edit: Crap, I see that it's due to the background being transparent. I'll update the troubleshooting docs, but unfortunately it's nothing that can be fixed in Powerline.

Please use github own image hosting or ![alt](http://image_address), not this crap: it is not previewable by ImagePreviewPopup (image URL cannot be constructed using link URL). Nobody wants to follow the link opening new page in case it is possible to avoid.

@sheerun This way it works fine (though on the HTML page image source URL is very different and plugin did not have a rule for the site, that is why I said it can’t). But it is still better to embed it using ![Not matching arrow and block colors](http://d.pr/i/vtt0.png), not to provide a link.

I realize that this is a fundamental limitation of the way that the fonts work, or rather, that the transparency is implemented such that text (in which case here the arrow itself is treated as text) shall not gain transparency. This is a requirement of course, and you can give it a shot if you want as well, if you give the terminal window global transparency, it looks terrible.

So the actual requirement here would be that the terminal emulator must somehow know that that particular character should be rendered as background so that it is transparent the normal way.

But I still would really like to have transparent terminal windows while still having the nice patched fonts. Maybe... since iTerm2 is open source... we can make a patch... we've already patched our fonts...

Came across this issue when troubleshooting via Google, in case anyone else lands here I've made a PR for iTerm2 that should hopefully get merged to fix this issue :)

This does not make the separator glyph consistent with transparency with the segments, instead it does the opposite keeping both fully opaque while the main BG can be transparent.
