This is what it looked like with an older build of shinylive:
from shinylive.
To reproduce without Quarto involved:
# Install latest version of py-shinylive
pip install shinylive --upgrade
# Create pseudo app
mkdir cell
echo "1+1" > cell/app.py
# Export
shinylive export cell cell_site
Then edit cell_site/app.json
, and replace the string "app.py"
with "code.py"
. It should look like this:
[{"name": "code.py", "content": "1+1\n", "type": "text"}]
Next, edit cell_site/index.html
, and on line 20, replace "viewer"
with "editor-cell"
. The line in question should look like this:
runApp(appRoot, "editor-cell", {startFiles: appFiles}, "python");
Finally, serve the site and visit it in the browser:
python3 -m http.server --directory cell_site --bind localhost 8008
But it should look like this (screenshot from an older version of shinylive):
from shinylive.
We should also have a test for this.

Incidentally, it would also be nice if we had some examples of how to use shinylive from JS, in HTML files. We did have examples like that at one point, but I think we removed them when the API was churning rapidly and the examples weren't kept up to date.
