I have several forms where I use ValidationEngine to validate for example a Birthdate. If I use custom[date] as it is, it doesn't correctly validate the input and allows dates like 2001-75-32 which are clearly invalid, but pass as correct.
I just noticed, the markdown modified my post. I should be correct now.

ok, I like these regex better ;-)
please fork the repo and submit a pull request
-> don't forget all the translations
-> also update the demo page with a sample test - I believe I already have one out there
I would recommend the version which is not tied to the 20&21st centuries
