Make sure that your file is actually a Microsoft Word file (the file extension doesn't really matter).

If you are still not able to resolve your problem, please open an issue in https://github.com/gabriel-vasile/mimetype, attaching the problematic file and information how this file was created.

Alternatively, since .doc is essentially a "zip" you can try to add a application/zip mimetype (I guess increasing the read bytes could help for better mimetype detection but for now I don't want to change the default mimetype read limit as I'm not sure how this would affect the memory consumption).

If your file is actually a standard Microsoft Word file, then most likely your issue is similar to gabriel-vasile/mimetype#180 and gabriel-vasile/mimetype#229 since for this type of files the unique format signature is usually at the end of the file, but as mentioned earlier for now I don't feel confident increasing the default limits (I've added it to my todo to reevaluate it in the future but remains a very low priority).
