This could only happen with 3.6, do you have a reproducible?

Indeed https://pypi.org/simple/platformdirs/ does not show it, but https://pypi.org/project/platformdirs/2.4.1/#files does. I wonder if PyPI is having some issues and the simple index is an old cached version @ewdurbin might know.

Investigating - PyPI is currently experiencing an outage, and we are investigating.

This still seems to be happening with python 3.6 and 3.7. The above status show link shows no issues, so I'm not sure that was the issue.
Edit: Never mind, I didn't realize this is a 3.6 support issue, and I was wrong about 3.7.
