One idea is to have a "preview" of the text instead of vertical scroll bar, which you could click on to navigate directly to that part. The preview would only appear if the text goes outside the view.

Perhaps it could be safer to start with a TextBox widget, with a single line box for writing and 'entering' short strings?
I do like the idea of having a larger, multi-line TextArea widget with more comprehensive text editing abilities 👍 It might be a bit tricky with Conrod's immediate-mode style, but I think it's definitely doable :-)

This has since been added as a general TextEdit widget. For a read-only version, see the Text widget.
