it's an open ended question...
I am skipping express' view system altogether and i was wondering if you have something else in mind.
var hbsCompiled = require('templates/hbsCompiled');
app.get('/', function(req, res){
res.send(hbsCompiled.index());

No, if you are skipping the view system them I suggest you use the handlebars package directly. This is a view engine for express.
