I have really nothing to say if you want to implement this. LZ-String can output Uint8Array type which looks pretty close to what you want. Adding Uint16Array to LZ-String looks like a 10-liner and would be welcome. Just have a look at how Uint8Array was handled.
As far as transferring stuff back and forth from and to the browser, your mileage may vary depending on the browser, the platform, the server and its platform, so I would refrain myself from doing it in any other form than ASCII (eg: base64).
