It should be easy to implement IPC by exposing an API from the host that copies memory between different VMs.

sure but that seems foolhardy.
Basically i don't want to build my own because whats going on the under the hood is complex and i think its better is there is an "official" way.

I think using NATS is a decent choice to do IPC and node to node.

Establishing IPC is a matter of creating an import resolver that would establish the necessary link/sockets between different 'containers' (whether they be hosted on the same machine or on a pair of remote servers).

nats/grpc/named pipes/zeromq for example are all viable. We don't necessary make use of IPC from the WebAssembly end for Perlin, but instead use noise to network together a cluster of machines which have their own individual WebAssembly 'containers'.
