pb with perl5.005_03 about perl5 HOT 3 CLOSED

I think i have found a problem in perl. I'm writing here since I have
no Web nor news access from the office :-(

Here is the code snippet​:

@​_ = ("a", "cell AN2");
split(' ', $_[1]);

print $_[0], "\n";

It was working fine with the perl5.004_01 we had, but with the latest
version, it gives garbage.
