I would have kept the same styling with the <pre> blocks. I find these literals too glaring:

@tshepang the rules for literal class are same as that for <code> element.

Markdown generators convert text between single quotes into <code> which is same as inline literals in reST.

I used the same CSS style for the sake of consistency between reST and markdown.

Now why can't <code> has same background as <pre>? I tested it out and it gave the page a yellow look.

One way to increase readability is to use different colors moderately and images. That's one more reason for using different colors.

I do like it now. With recent updates, I think something styling-related changed. I can notice a smaller, less bold font... welcome changes. I am happy.
