IMHO It would be better to open in new/another window if possible.
It's similar concept with build error log, I prefer to keep one window for the build error log, and another window for the editor.
You can't close the log before the user decided there is nothing interesting there anymore.

It would be nice to have the log and the code open at the same time (panel or separate window), I've had the issue of re-opening the log, or simply copying the log to a local text editor to keep track of changes.

@thunsaker Right click -> open in new window. Works for build logs but not running ones.
It might be worth having a switch that makes all these things appear in new windows. Would take some significant refactoring, though. Alternatively, panels (which also requires more or less the same refactoring).

Opening Build logs text files in new window does it without the syntax highlighting, so it's difficult to find the error.
