remote syslog isn't picking up log messages after a newline in them about remote_syslog HOT 5 CLOSED

@jonhyman are you able to see whether it's transmitting them at all (like by using cleartext UDP and ngrep or tcpdump)? It should read them and transmit them as separate messages/writes, one per line. remote_syslog shouldn't have any awareness of what the lines contain or how they got there, which makes me wonder whether the newline characters are unusual somehow.

So I'm trying to reproduce manually and also using ngrep. I can't reproduce in a rails console, however in both places where there are newlines in logging (one caused by Resque failing, one by Mongoid failing), my Papertrail logs don't have the info after the newlines. Not sure what's going on there.

@jonhyman since this appears to be something with your Papertrail account or at least specific to Papertrail (rather than a bug in remote_syslog), I'm going to follow up with a support ticket there. Expect another email in <5 minutes.

@troy Actually, I went back to check everything and I see it now. I bet I had a saved query on my FATAL/ERROR saved search or something that was preventing me from seeing them. I think all is well.
