@sophiewigmore Thanks for the detailed report.
The exact issue happens when you use 16.x
version as well. I wasn't able to find anything in the Node changelog. The only difference I can find is here in the depenedency building phase. Unlikely but maybe this somehow misses out on the --openssl-use-def-ca-store
flag.
I tried building with NODE_OPTIONS=--use-openssl-ca
SSL_CERT_DIR=/etc/ssl/certs
, NODE_EXTRA_CA_ CERTS=/etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt
, none of them seem to fix the issue. Needs further investigation
from npm-install.
After investigating this issue with @arjun024, apps fail to build with Node 17 (and 15 and 16) due to NPM v7. Any app with an .npmrc
file that contains a ca=
line causes the build to fail with the error captured in this issue. There's no clear reason for us to be forcing npm to stop using the bundled CA. Apps can be successfully built without this setting, so this issue can be closed out, since it has nothing to do with the npm install
command we are running in the buildpack.
