You're right, I think this would make more sense to let people have the freedom to use commits/tags etc.

However forcing the use of a branch can be an opinionated idea to push for a gitops/trunk workflow in all projects

You're also right, this wasn't the intention in the first place, but this would push the best practice already praised when using ArgoCD of having only one branch representing the desired state.

I'm ok with implementing this change in v0.2 since we're still in v1alpha1 and the project only becoming public today ;)

We'd still need to add a recommended/opinionated doc on how to use Burrito to push our best practice !

I think we should put in the documentation the pros and cons of each approach so we keep track of this kind of decision and not having to rediscuss it every other day. I am adding this to the v0.2 milestone
