I solved this issue myself, and I'll report back on the results.
I just converted the timezone to local before get_absolute_url.
def get_absolute_url(self):
self.publish = timezone.localtime(self.publish)
return reverse('blog:post_detail', args=[self.publish.year,
self.publish.month,
self.publish.day,
self.slug])
I hope this helps someone else!
