I have not currently added it to the default SquareCellView, but you can extend the BaseCellView and override the two methods onSizeChange and onDraw. The check here and here are preventing you to display the events on selection. You can implement it in a similar way like I have done for EventCountCellView here. The events are displayed even if the user has selected the cell. Just drop the state check in your extended class. Let me know if you face any issues.

@MihirPal I have added updated the demo app. Check out the CalendarActivity2, here I'm using ExampleCellView2 which is extended from BaseCellView. This will show the events in all the states, event if selected.
I haven't included this in the library as there can be several other customized cells which will unnecessarily bloat the library. Feel free to reopen the issue if you face any problem.
