I don't know if that is the reason why I never got Amarok to play music via the Ampache protocol from Owncloud, but it never worked for me. I never even got as far as a track listing, trying both the setup password and my current password (I tried this because of issue #9). Playing music through the web interface works fine, as well as accessing the Ampache URL with a browser.

I don't have any log output from Amarok and cannot get it from Owncloud server (I don't host it).

If anyone knows a way to get Amarok to log or another Linux player I could try, I'd be willing to dig deeper!

Amarok 2.6.0 (KDE 4.9.4 on Kubuntu 12.10)

Okay, I tried using Quickplay 1.5 (http://quickplay.ampache.org/) and in the console it gave the following (not very informational) error message:

Exception in thread Thread-1:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/threading.py", line 552, in __bootstrap_inner
    self.run()
  File "./quickplay.py", line 91, in run
    raise AuthError("Error connecting to server")
AuthError: Error connecting to server

NB: the URL I was using works well in a browser!

There was the decision to only keep the new music app in the separate repo and the old media app in the stable5 branch of the apps repo. I reopened the issue there owncloud-archive/apps#117 and will look into it.
