I think this was my confusion - not sure if I commented here or in another channel (lots going on these days). There was an ILE C contribution delivered - it in the main folder (because it is a complete solution, actually now included in the OSSILE build).

As we're discussing the further in Ryver, I'll switch to that platform for additional details.

Also, one can't commit a folder itself. If someone commits a file inside 'c_examples' the the folder gets created

Jesse,
Following message when I try to create a new file.

You’re creating a file in a project you don’t have write access to. Submitting a change will create the file in a new branch in your fork ChrisHird/OSSILE, so you can send a pull request.

Not really what I want to do? I was expecting to find the content to see what is in there (now I know its in 'main' I have reviewed) but we need to resolve the problem so contributions can be added to the right folders. When people come looking they want to find the content in the right folders.

Hi, Chris. That's what you want to do. When contributing to Github, the conventional first step is to create a fork of the project. Then you commit to that fork and submit a pull request (for us to pull the changes from your fork). Hopefully this link helps

OK I now have a c_examples. I just need to work out the best method of using github to manage projects within the directory structure? I would see the following as a suitable layout.
OSSILE
c_examples
myFirstExample
helloworld.h
helloworld.c
helloworld.rpgle
readme.md
etc.......
mySecondExample
newWorld.c
newWorld.h
newWorld.rpgle
readme.md
etc......
Not sure how I can have this kind of structure in RDi and allow me to publish to github in this format? If you have any ideas please let me know. I will keep trying to figure it out but my brain is not playing at the moment.

Sorry layout is lost, each line would be a seperate directory/file

Seems like I have the wrong impression of what we are trying to achieve? The samples are just code snippets and all complete projects are to go into the main folder in their own folder? I need some help cleaning up the branches as I can no longer commit to my branch (its states it too far behind the main branch?)

Do you know how to get to posh (git command line)?

You might need something like:
git checkout master
git pull origin master

@WorksOfBarry , help!

You should be able to do that on normal git @ThePrez :)

Posh~git comes with this: https://desktop.github.com/

The topic of the issue has already been resolved. This issue should be closed.

The issue with how to proceed with code examples which have multiple modules and/or programs should be discussed in an new issue or on Ryver.

Fair enough. Ryver might be a good platform for sorting out Chris's many contributions
