To be able to support different infrastructures without fixed IP schemes, dynamic inventories needs to be supported.

Remote administration of linux device

As administrator of a diverse set of linux kiosk devices (e.g. both x64 and arm),
Instead og managing the devices manually and on-site,
I need to make sure the device is configured correctly according to standards even though I am on a different location than the device, because i want to be able to use less time managing the systems, and thus be ready to scale.

Enable remote installation and autostart of browser client to support webbrowsing and display of webcontent.

• Add existing sh scripts @janhalen
• Port functionality from sh scripts to ansible playbooks
• Split up sh script functionality into roles
• Port and refactor 'create_user' functionality
• Port and refactor 'auto-login' functionality
  • Experiment with requirements.yml to use externally developed role
• Test and review the playbooks with the ported functionality

👤 User story

As the administrator i need to be able to Monitor and detect errors and/or misconfigurations in remote devices early, To be able to meet the expectations, that devices have a high uptime and availability and that the devices are consistently compliant with the given security policies.

• add a standards based metrics/log collection method
• add a notification system

Next step is to make it into an automated action with the currently choosen automation framework Ansible.

@debjazkb297 suggests managing the Display via HDMI-CEC and has allready tested that is is possible on Ubuntu 22.04 on a Rpi
