Ideally, there should be an option to scale down the bookmark icons more aggressively in zoom-out mode, making them about half their current size.
It sounds reasonable to me... not sure about implementation.
I am curious about usage scenario. It looks like that bookmarks are used to mark routes/tracks. Could you please elaborate?
Places, best routes, parts, type of the road, state of the road, all depends on a color, typical paths, and so on..
