A very good idea indeed :-)
Since the build task is just a file concatenation + minification, any tool could do the job.
I like to keep simple things simple too, that's why I like to use gear.
Browserify is all about independant modules, do you mean really independant modules with multiple namespaces ?

Sorry, I wasn't thinking this through. Using Browserify would indeed assume independent namespaces, which is not necessarily what I want. I'm looking for something that does concatenation.

A Gearfile makes the whole thing simple :
new gear.Queue({registry: 'gear-lib'}) .append('(function(){') .read(['src/file1.js', 'src/file2.js', 'src/file3.js']) .append('}());') .concat() .write('opentype.js') .jsminify() .write('opentype.min.js') .log('Done !') .run();
I admit I'm biased towards gear ;-)

grunt-contrib-concat can do that as well.

The browserify branch is looking into modularizing using Browserify. It does split things up in namespaces, but so far also makes everything a bit cleaner.

The Browserify branch is now fully merged, so I'm closing this issue.
