Update: The "No config" message should be fixed with this commit: 84fe69b

Fatal: no entropy gathering module detected
Most probably /dev/random and /dev/urandom are not working correctly inside the chroot. That's a problem of your local setup not zypp.

Didn't thought about binding /dev and /proc from the beginning. I've done the same on opensuse and it worked but now after creating /dev and /proc in the chroot and binding them to the root made it work!

BTW give a look to schroot, which allows not only chroot for normal users but also includes some hooks that take care ofs stuff like mounting /proc
