pymakespec and pyinstaller and both binaries in the same location, it finds one but not the other!! This is crazy mad.
Yes I've checked the permissions and stuff and it only happens when the box boots and not is you call the build process manually from command line.

Probably completely unrelated, but couldn't there be some PyInstaller configuration problem going on? One thing I noted about the BUILD_HOWTO_LINUX file is that it doesn't include the configuration step that is described here:
This shouldn't really matter (apart from possibly making things marginally slower),and I don't see how this could ever result in this problem, but perhaps worth a a shot.
Strangest still is that it used to work. One for Arthur C. Clarke's mysterious universe, I guess ...
