Yes, it does support Chinese.
If you're interested in trying out a new training process (and would like to work together), you can use this utility: https://github.com/openalpr/plate_tagger
I am in the process of updating OpenALPR to do OCR a little differently which will make Chinese recognition very accurate. We'll need about 3000+ tagged plates to do a decent job.

does openalpr support different plate size in one country, for example New energy car license plate in China is relatively long, and it contains more characters.

i have openalpr-utils-binarizefontsheet build file in my folder but i can't access in terminal. Whenever I run openalpr-utils-binarizefontsheet it says command not found?What's the issue @matthill
