Bottles about octave-app HOT 3 CLOSED

Oh, boy. Now that we've decided to do versioned app names (/Applications/Octave--), bottles have gotten harder, because some formulae are non-relocatable:

• gcc
• openssl
• python
• imagemagick
• open-mpi
• openblas
• texinfo
• qt (oh, nooooo! this build is huge!)

I don't think this is a reason to not do versioned app names; that outweighs the compile time in my mind. It's just a bit of a bummer. Probably means we need to add better support for keeping the staging app dirs around side-by-side with the actual Octave.app builds (so we can test them easily).

I'm now considering this a low priority issue: gcc and qt are non-relocatable, and they take up most of the build time, so bottling all our formulas wouldn't actually be a big win in terms of compilation time.

It may be a significant win if users start installing via Homebrew using brew install octave-app/octave-app/octave-octave-app, but as of now I don't see that being a big use case.

It would be a rather nontrivial task to make the qt and gcc bottles relocatable.

Closing this as wontfix. Due to stuff discussed above, this won't get much bang for the effort. And it would take a lot of work to accomplish. So I'm not going to do it.
