I encountered the same problem as Vassy's. I tried to add a check before going through _auth_timeout_check on line 64 of res_user.py. The source code is like below:
if http.request.httprequest.path == "/web/login":
return
It solved my problem, but I'm not sure if it would cause other problems. Any concerns?

I applied the patch and the problem is gone. The website seemed inaccessible before. What about updating the module, it seems like an important bug to me?

I had to add also '/web/reset_password' to the ignored URL's since it would redirect you to login page and not be able to reset the password
so now my code is:
if http.request.httprequest.path in ['/web/login','/web/reset_password']:
return
