Button Texture Consistency

from coffeemaker.

obscurelyme avatar obscurelyme commented on May 23, 2024

Recap:

Buttons have been overhauled. There are 2 types of buttons, each type is deduced on invocation of the constructor.

  • Standard
  • Textured

Standard Buttons require a default and hover SDL_Color object as well as height and width.
Textured Buttons require a filepath to an existing image file within the assets directory. Height and width are determined but the image's dimensions and cannot be overridden (maybe later).

This PR had to fix a bug with Text::SetWrapLength that could potentially bug out at runtime due to a <= 0 parent width. This function now shows a message box and quits the application if this is the case.

Buttons hold a cache of textures. For every texture that is read from disk, it will subsequently be stored in an std::map for other buttons to use. This will save on memory usage.
