That was the original intention yes - to remove the year in a culture-neutral way to preserve screen real-estate. My original code didn't work for cultures where the year appears first.

I'd argue that the "Asian" (but why?!) method of yyyy-mm-dd is about as culturally neutral as you can get, since it's the ONLY one that sorts correctly, but I see your intention. We just need to force the entire world to handle dates the right way! :-)

I hear you - it definitely sorts better and that's how I name files with timestamps. I've got unit tests in place now that test a few different cultures so hopefully this won't be an issue again. Thanks for the feedback.!
