I have a suspicion about what's happening but I'm at a KVM conference this week so I may not be able to address it for a few days.
I think the server is sending the security types packet as two separate chunks (which is a bit odd), and noVNC isn't handling this properly (it needs to wait for the whole frame to be delivered.

If it's the problem I think it is, then it should be fixed with commit 3afc7a2.
Let me know how it goes. This is probably the first time anybody is testing the VNC server in virtualbox so I wouldn't be surprised if there are other issues.
Anyways, if you still have the same problem, please re-open the bug.
