If you could, please post an example of what the puzzles that hit the 500 iteration mark look like.
I'm not entirely sure where this bug is coming from, but I plan on modifying the unit test slightly, to make it fail on more cases, including when a puzzle doesn't have a unique solution. I'll be working on this and the other issue once I've gotten the hint API taken care of.

Fixed in commit ccd8c14.
The buildEasyPuzzle
and buildMediumPuzzle
methods were each checking if (alreadyCounted == NO)
in one place they should have been checking alreadyCounted2
.
