Thanks for the suggestion and the snippet. The problem is that it is hard to predict what the return value for each method will be. For one it could be of(foo), and for the other, it could be of(bar).
The way you did it in your snippet is flexible.
spectator.get(RestService).getFoo.andReturn(of({a: 1}));
spectator.get(RestService).getBar.andReturn(of([1, 2, 3]));from spectator.
