VIRTUAL_PORT should be the port your container is listening on (80), not the port you're publishing to on the host (5110).

That's made clearer in the upstream block:

    server 172.18.0.4:5110;

The container is exposing port 80 but you're forcing nginx-proxy to use port 5110, which the container isn't listening on.
