That's a really good idea! I think Windows and macOS installations can be scripted in a straight-forward way, for Linux, I'm not so sure. Depending on the distro, admin privileges might be required (especially for rpm-based distros - flathub install permissions depend on the machine's config). Maybe we want to table VS Code in Linux for now?
Second question: right now, we have an ncEditor env variable (that is used to install Spyder on macOS and Linux). Do we want to keep this or remove it? Or rename it?
