Thanks for sharing. Can you share the error message shown in the browser? Hmm that is an error they show when ADO itself is having issues. I just checked their services and all seems fine, can you try again for me? Either way I don't think this is anything wrong with the template but has me puzzled!

Its still returning the same error. Are there any particular services or permissions required for that query to work? If so I can check in with our ADO admin to make sure everything that needs to be on is so. I agree it doesnt seem like anything wrong with the template (its an awesome template by the way great work mate) as its loading the query for quite some time before erroring out, just seems to be timing out or bouncing on something? Im not sure, equally as puzzled!

Nope nothing different, in fact the WorkItems InProgress table is the same data source/table. It might be the amount of work items but then surprised everything else loads ok so it kinda rules that out. Hi Mate, I have been playing with the query in my browser. At the end of the query there is an expand function being used:
"&$expand=Parent($select=Title,WorkItemType,WorkItemID),BoardLocations,"

If bring the "BoardLocations" into the brackets, or remove it completly, or change it to "&BoardLocations" then the query works in my browser but gives the following error on Power BI:

This seems to suggest ADO is having some trouble with this expand function - particularly the ",BoardLocations," component. Unfortunately due to the fact that im new to these requests I am uncertain what is going on exactly.

Yeah that was my hunch too. What is unclear to me is why this is, got tonnes of others using this template and this is the only instance of this erroring (in my current place for example I’ve authored ~50 reports and none have failed refresh/load this morning). Similarly the fields being expanded are present in every ADO project regardless of process template. The error that appears after you modify the query is because the query steps are looking for that column - you’d have to remove all the highlighted steps in the query settings for it then to work: [image: image.png] Problem is this will directly break certain charts (you'll see this on data load if you make these changes). Is there anything unique about your ADO setup? Specifically the Boards and their columns? If not then it might require something to be logged with Microsoft... Ah right I see, that image is not showing up but I get what you are saying any way. There is nothing that I am aware of, but I do have a meeting with one of our ADO admins today to discuss this. Is there anything you can think of with respect to the boards and columns that could cause this issue that I can ask them about?

Otherwise yip will log something with Microsoft and see how that plays out. 90% of the dashboard is working without the query so we can still start deriving a good chunk of value in the mean time. Thanks again for your insight and advice, very much appreciated.
