@fer-marino
The <mrf_compression_type> PPNG stands for palette PNG (8 bit index color), which doesn't match your sources.

The first source is Grayscale, Float32. You will have to reduce it to 8 bit first, and remap the NoData value to an unused value, 0 most likely, because there is no integer NaN, to preserve the transparency in those areas. The gdal tools (gdalinfo, gdal_translate) could do it, or use your favorite GIS/Image Processing software.
Then you can use PNG as the <mrf_compression_type>, which will preserve the NoData.

The second source is RGB (24 bit color). <mrf_compression_type> JPEG works best for that case, especially because that source is already JPEG.

@fer-marino

Great!

Try JPNG as the format for the first dataset. It is a mix of JPEG and PNG, which uses PNG only in the tiles where transparency is needed. It results in a smaller output size and tile serving speed, with a minimal impact on data appearance. It some some limitations with RGB data due to the JPEG algorithm, but it works great for grayscale.
